An introduction to data visualization, this series of posters focuses on fossil fuel waste in the United States. Fossil Fumes: Petro-culture Pollution focuses on the science, process and energy releases from fossil fuels, while Fossil Fumes: Extracting Externalities focuses on the hidden costs of fossil fuels refineries in communities of colors in the United States. The goal is to inform the viewer of the harms fossil fuels have on communities of color and to our environment. Data is systemized with pie and radial charts, bar graphs and a few illustrations and semi-large typographic moments that visually captivate viewers. The colors are inspired by the process-making fossil fuels go through.

After researching the neighborhood online, a walk through Montrose helped find the right tone of illustration for it. Drawn during my walk, in a fast and rigid manner to showcase its hectic nightlife and the constant change as gentrification comes into Montrose.
